A complete, but extremely short Newpower Soul Festival concert. Clocking in at a little under 80 minutes in length this is one of Prince's shortest concerts (of a main tour) since the 1999 tour. Also considering the other shows from the December 1998 tour are around 2 hours long - you have to have some sympathy for the people who were in attendance at this concert.

The show itself is very different from the other NewPower Soul Festival concerts with many one-off performances. 'Love...Thy Will Be Done' is played in place of the more usual 'One Of Us' for the only time on the tour, as is 'The Ride'. The latter features an extended solo from Candy Dulfer and is perhaps one of the least guitar driven versions I have heard. An instrumental jam titled 'Hypno Paradise' is a rare inclusion. It's a lengthy instrumental with Prince cueing it in by name ("Kirk, give me Hypno Paradise") and whilst the chorus of the jam is identical to the released 'The Slaughterhouse' 2004 track, the majority is Prince improvising over the backbeat to the song - very intriguing performance and definitely a rarity. The quality of the recording is superb with little or no audience noise.

The show is almost perfectly clear, loud and to the fore. The only slight problem is that during the opening numbers the sound slightly muffles in places, although it is very, very minor. The packaging of this release is of the normal high Sabotage quality. There are a number of nice pictures included in the booklet, although it is lacking any real information - nice eye candy though. Overall an excellent release of a short, but sweet concert.

A few tracks, 'Nothing compares 2 U' being one of them, were edited out so that this concert could be squeezed onto 1 disc. What's left is tight and funky and definitely worth a listen.
